Hiking

So, I went for a hike today, and found a nice way in to the woods at the college campus behind where I live that is mountain bike accessable. No more driving to a place to ride my bike. That really annoys me...driving somewhere to ride or walk around...yeesh.

Got my hands on some nice mapping software that I have interfaced with my GPS, so now I know where to go with all those trails. It seemed like every corner I went around today there was another road going somewhere. Pretty cool in my opinion, but makes for long mapping sessions.

Going to be doing a lot more walking/riding around in an attempt to 'get in shape' for the ski season. . The cooler weather is much more condusive to my outdoor activites, I must admit.

Total today was about 4 miles.

Weekend Fun

Had a fun weekend this weekend, we seem to have a new tradition of pool or bowling with Kim on Saturdays, pretty cool. This weekend the girls decided to team up against me playing pool, 2 on 1 style. I still held 'em off for one game. Scnookered me in the second, though.

Work is going well, I am training a person who will be in the field with me, which is pretty cool. We work together well, I forsee no problems. Now all we have to do is get the corporate gears turning and get him access to our computer systems. That should take awhile, fun fun.

Tomorrow I have a day off and will most likely be installing shelves in the laundry room. That should be fun, yay. Yay.

Ok, I really have nothing productive to say so I guess it's off to the couch.

Bored

For the third time this week, I find myself bored. At least Leah is coming back home soon, I miss having somebody to talk to that doesn't "meow" back to me. Although I will admit that the watching what I want, eating when I want, and leaving my stuff strewn all over the place is a nice benefit!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL??

Right now Green Day is doing their spot on the "Pre Game" NFL football opener. "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", to be exact. I like that song, so the TV is most certainly cranked at the moment. "I'm Walking down the line that divides me somewhere in my mind," pretty cool line.

Now about the football thing, for starters I'm not a football nut. I don't know all the plays, I don't keep track of the players and their stats, I just like to watch the game and have good food whilest doing so.

With that out of the way, I have to say I don't know whom to root for tonight. I like the Raiders. I also like the Pats. They are playing each other...personally I think I'd like to see the Pats win because they are at home, but when they go visit the Raiders later in the season I think the Raiders should take it. I guess that's a safe bet?

Leah is in Ohio on some business thingy, so I have the whole place to myself for four days. Woot! Broke out the kitchen utensils tonight to cook up some fishy things, like clams and salmon. That definitely would not have gone over well if the Lady was here. Now the cat is wandering around sniffing the air wondering why it smells like, as Leah would say, "low tide." (I do inform her that if fish smells like that before you cook it, chances are it is bad.). I have tried to explain the health benefits of fish, but I have not been sucessful.

Speaking of health benefits, I think I will undo all of the benefits I got from the fish by eating some twinkies tonight, lol. I'm pretty sure my gut can afford it.

(Carlos Santana is now playing on the game show along with some chick who has way too much makeup up. Michelle Branch I think.)

Stopped by the ski shop today that was having a big weekend tent sale, and picked up about 175 bucks worth of stuff for 70 clams. Yay! Speaking of which, I'm kinda pissed that I can't find any of my ski stuff...it's hiding somewhere in a box from the move. Grrr...

(I must say, this is quite the opener for the NFL...OZZY is on stage! Rock on Ozzy!! {the crazy train ROCKS}...doing some air guitar...)

The Weekend

Well, the weekend went well. Sunday we had our friend Kim over, along with my parents, for a tour of the new place. (New Condo). I scored some nice goodie eats from mom. Yeah!

Later that evening Kim, Leah, and myself went out for 3 games of bowling. That was a pretty good riot. I acutally figured out one of the things I was doing wrong, though. I do much better when I look at the pins instead of looking at the little lane line markers when I release the ball. Not like you wanted to know.

Monday was Labor day, and of course all hell broke out at work. My scheduling system was down for the entire day, so I had no idea where I was supposed to be. Only two customers had the brains enough to call and inquire as to where I was, so they got the priority appointments. By the time they called it was later in the day, so that's all I had time for.

Today I did a little bit of cleaning around the place. Yes, I know how to clean. I digested a few more boxes of crap, and threw out a few more, followed by some cat terrorizing with the vacuum. This was rather humorus. This evening Barney should be coming, hopefully bringing his laptop so we can fire up some sort of computer games. Oh yeah, he has to see the ski video too.

Heh heh...

Yay for meetings

So we had one of those lovely 7AM meetings at work again. One of those ones where we all read from a book and people complain about things. Luckily, because I work in the field, I leave early and get to do some real work. Woot!

Currently somewhat tired, mainly because I slept about 4 hours last night. Dang stomach is topsy-tuvery on me...must have been those two bowls of Cheerios that I ate before bed. Whoops.

Gettin excited 'bout ski season, I've been thinking about our annual trip up north to the White Mountains. Pretty cool. I'm hoping that perhaps I can go skiing this year with some comrades from work.

Hey, you know what? I just realized that I came home today and the cat didn't come to see me. Ungrateful beast. Probably sleeping or chasing that fake mouse of his around. That's the new thing that we do at 2AM. We bang on things while we chase the mouse around. Just to be sure people know I'm here. Great !

The better half is sitting over there clicking away on that pogo.com game-thing that she plays. Kinda looks like a cross between tetris, snood, and space invaders. I personally fail to see the addiction quality. There's no carnage or typing taunts to other people in that game. No orcs or trolls either. I tell ya, there's nothing like taking some cave trolls and catapults in "Battle for Middle Earth" and knocking on Barney's (my friend) gate to say hi. That usually invokes some quite comical retorts from the other side of the room. The game she is playing, however, makes some sort of weak midi-type noise when you win and that's it.

As I'm flipping through the TV I am noticing there is an abundance of CRAP on. Yaknow, I worked all day and I just kinda want to veg out. I don't have to cook dinner, just reheat leftovers. I want some simple leftovers and the tube. Right now there is some sort of Sci-Fi thing on that about hunting dragons. Definitely not TSR/Wizards of the Sword coast quality, though. Um...yeah, one shot with a ballista and a dragon is dead? Don't think so, it never seems to work that way in a role-playing game.

I'm kinda tired of hearing about the Katrina stuff. Don't get me wrong, I feel really bad for those people down there, but when I keep seeing footage of idiots taking potshots at cops, helicopters, and other people, I kinda just get pissed off.

On related matters, our company still can't account for 14 people that are from that area, we are all hoping they are ok. We are donating 1 million dollars off the bat to help rebuild, and also matching what people donate in our store, up to another million. Then we also have a company-only fund to help employees as well. Pretty cool. Especially when that money could go to one of our stores is under 10 feet of water still, all merchandise lost or looted. That's got to be a couple million loss, easy. Nice to know we have some capital to throw around.

Ok, I'm going to check out and see if there is a demo of Guild Wars, and if not, then fire up some BFME.

Chipmunks rule

To make Jenn happy....
CHIPMUNKS RULE

Bored, again

So, sittin here at 9 at night, not much to report. I did finish the skiing video, that turned out rather well. Little compilation that I put together from our trip up to New Hampshire.

Right now Shawshank redemption is on TV, so I think I may fire up Battle for Middle Earth and have a go round. I can attack the Black Gate at any time, I'm just goin around biding my time with my heros for now though.

The white chicken chili I made tonight was good, but didn't come out as I would have liked it to. O well.

Hmm...it's late, let's post about my cat.

Ok, so this "Blog" thing was recently interjected into my memory by Jenn asking me what the heck a blog was. So, I decided to start one. I was doing one a while back, but I got too lazy for it.

So here I am at 12:46 AM, watching Conan O'Brien on ye olde tube, creating a blog. And it's muggy hot in here. Yep. You would think I would turn on the air conditioner, but it's so late for that. Just a waste of electricity. The cat, however, would like to file a petition for more cooling.

Cat. Yep, got one of those. His name is Mojo. My girlfriend's old roomate brought him home 3 or so years ago. Poor thing was abandoned by his mom on top of a library at just a few weeks of age. I could hold him in the palm of my hand. Now his head barely fits in my hand.

Mojo is a Maine Coon, we believe he is purebred. From what we have been told and uncovered by research, he will grow to be between 15-20 pounds. They continue to put weight well into their adult lives. Coons also will remain "in a kitten-like playful state" for their entire life. This is definitely Mr. Mojo. He's always zippin around here playing with whatever looks like a toy to him. (including my computer wires. Dang cat.)

Maine Coons are also extemely loyal to their owners, whilest maintaining their own independance and personality. He quite literally will follow you around like a small puppy to check out what you are doing and to make sure you are ok, but once you and the area have passed the "Mojo Survey", don't expect him to come when you call him. You need the laser pointer to summon him on command. We have noticed that if both myself and Leah (GF) are in the room, the cat will most likely take up a position that is equidistant from both of us. Coons are also very quiet. His meow is very short and "cute", but very mute. Kinda like a kitten, actually.

Our not-so-little cat is up around 13 or 14 pounds of solid muscle now. Seeing how we just moved into the place, he is still in the process of figuring out how to open these new lever-style door handles. Oh yeah, did I mention he can open doorknob style doors? Yes...knob style doors.

Mojo also is not a lap cat, which is a trait of the Coon. Pick him up and he jumps right down. But he'll sit by your feet. Not on them, just by them. Purring away, looking all kinglike. Unless, of course, you are in the bathroom. For some reason he will bang on the door until you let him in, then he will attempt to locate himself in your lap while you are on the toilet. Most annoying. Haven't really figured out what's up with that, but it is quite comical.

Speaking of "kinglike", we're pretty sure he thinks he is the king of the place. Right now he is playing king of the tile kitchen floor, probably wondering why "mommy" is in the bedroom and "daddy" is sitting at the other picture screen thing making noise with that other thing he likes to sit on. (keyboard and computer). I still think he's filing for more AC. Either that or he is silently waiting for his nightly attack of my feet. Yes, it's a game to him. Hit and fade at daddy's feet, every other step as he walks by. I really don't know if it's a challenge, or if he is just playing. He never bites very hard, but if you start playing with him you can see the 'hunter instinct' in him as he attacks. Kinda cool.

Ok it's now 1AM. Still not tired, so I will go veg on the couch. I will leave you with a pic of a young mojo. It's up top there.
