I heard a local news story today that angered me greatly:
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Police are asking for the public's help to find whoever is responsible for a shocking case of animal cruelty. A kitten was found roaming the streets of Springfield on Monday after being set on fire.
A good samaritan found the two-month old kitten in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and immediately rushed him into the MSPCA on Union Street.
The kitten was badly burned on his face and his body. Veterinarians are also treating him for malnourishment.
MSPCA law enforcement believes the fire was intentionally set to Nicolas. Now they're asking for your help to find whoever is responsible.
The MSPCA is offering a $500 reward for anyone that can identify whoever committed this act of animal cruelty. If you have any information, please call the center at (413) 750-7661.
The kitten was named Nicolas after St. Nicolas, for the spirit of the holidays. Once Nicolas is better, he will put be up for adoption.
I have a soft spot for kittens, but even if I didn't.....it's too bad that society doesn't have eye-for-an-eye laws sometimes. Don't gimme any of that bull about "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" or "maybe the people who did it need help."
There's no excuse for it and I say take a hot branding iron to 'em and see how they like it.
