SNOW!

Almost two feet of snow in two days. Does it get any better than this? I don't think so!

It never ceases to amaze me...

...that people just plain don't pay attention to what they are doing when driving. Ok, so it's 30 degrees, icy, slushy, and generally craptacular out there today. I'm driving 25 in a 30 on a side road so I don't go flying off the road. Up behind me comes Ms. Bling-bling dumbass in her giant black SUV going about 45. So close to my back bumper that all I see is headlights.

To make it even better she's got those low-profile wide tires and "rims" on the thing, and the suspension has been lowered. Seriously, why the hell do do you buy an off-road capable vehicle just to lower it and put low profile tires on it?

Well I at least I was able to see her dumbassedness teach her a lesson. As she impatiently gunned it off a stop sign and turned in the opposite direction that I had gone, I got to watch the back end of her giant-mobile swing all out of control and BAM right into a nice new granite curb.

I guess them 'rimz' aren't worth that much any more now that they're bent?

Ken Block

I recently came across a "rally" video of sorts featuring Subaru Rally Team USA's driver Ken Block. Ken is the new guy in town in the rally, but he certainly is not an unknown name in extreme sports.

Ken actually co-founded DC shoes about 14 years ago, and if you are a snowboarder, skateboarder, or motocross ride you certainly know the DC logo. It's good to have Ken a part of the Subaru USA Rally Team, the man has talent!

Ken took the Bronze at the X Games 12 over in LA, and placed 2nd overall in RANC. (Rally America National Championship). Last year he took Silver in X Games 13 and placed 3rd in the RANC. Not bad for someone who just signed with Subaru in 2006.

This video below features a Gymkhana course. Although not really a "rally" per se, a Gymkhana course is sort of like a car obstacle course. You are required to perform controlled power slides, skids, drifting, and abrupt direction changes in the shortest amount of time possible.

Personally I am not a fan of those drifting competitions, but this video is the exception to that rule. It really demonstrates talent for controlled multi-directional driving.

Sick bastards...

I heard a local news story today that angered me greatly:

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Police are asking for the public's help to find whoever is responsible for a shocking case of animal cruelty. A kitten was found roaming the streets of Springfield on Monday after being set on fire.

A good samaritan found the two-month old kitten in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield and immediately rushed him into the MSPCA on Union Street.

The kitten was badly burned on his face and his body. Veterinarians are also treating him for malnourishment.

MSPCA law enforcement believes the fire was intentionally set to Nicolas. Now they're asking for your help to find whoever is responsible.

The MSPCA is offering a $500 reward for anyone that can identify whoever committed this act of animal cruelty. If you have any information, please call the center at (413) 750-7661.

The kitten was named Nicolas after St. Nicolas, for the spirit of the holidays. Once Nicolas is better, he will put be up for adoption.

I have a soft spot for kittens, but even if I didn't.....it's too bad that society doesn't have eye-for-an-eye laws sometimes. Don't gimme any of that bull about "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" or "maybe the people who did it need help."

There's no excuse for it and I say take a hot branding iron to 'em and see how they like it.
